The Crisis of Secularism in Turkey? A Reinterpretation

The Crisis of Secularism in Turkey? A Reinterpretation

Dear Friends,

You are cordially invited to a lecture by Professor Gunes Murat Tezcur. The lecture will be about the secular establishment and the religious establishment in Turkey. He will give both sides of the issue, discussing the various religious groups, extremists, AK Party and the seculardemocrats, leftists, military, current judiciary developments, etc. He will explain the sensitivity of this issue in Turkey, what led to this point--the history of the issue, and how these developments impact Turkey, the region, and the world. He also might touch upon the current religious/secular taboos in Turkey, such as the headscarf issue. There will be Q&A afterwards.

The lecture will be held in English. The lecture is free. Parking is available in the building or outside by the movie theatre, it costs about $10. Free street parking is possible.
