TACA Ataturk School’s mission is to provide education to Turkish children in the Chicago area following Ataturk’s principles.
Classes are held every Sunday between 10:00 am and 1:00 pm, with two 10 minute breaks. We are currently able to accept kindergarten through 6th graders. Our aim is to teach our students the Turkish language, history, geography, as well as mathematics. We also strive to develop our students’ appreciation for and knowledge of Turkish traditions and culture in a caring, friendly and fun environment. To this end, we hold ceremonies and celebrations at our school on Turkish national and religious holidays.
Our teaching staff is composed of enthusiastic individuals who are successful in their respective fields of specialization, bringing a variety of skills and strengths to the classroom. Ataturk school teachers have all been volunteers for the past several years but in an attempt to provide better education to our children, we are continuing with a more professional staff this year. We currently have 2 professional teachers who have many years of experience teaching in Turkey. The curriculum has been updated to offer a more rigorous learning experience for the children and they are assigned homework and are expected to be ready for quizzes and mini exams. In addition to our professional teachers, we continue to have volunteers, who have been with the school for the past couple of years. Teachers communicate weekly with parents to inform them about their children’s accomplishments, and to receive their feedback and suggestions for improvement.
We currently have more than 40 students. Attending TACA Ataturk School is not only a valuable educational experience but also a great opportunity for our children to socialize with other Turkish-American children and make friends.
With the commitment and hard work of our teachers, the much appreciated cooperation of our parents, and the tremendous support we receive from all the members and friends of TACA, we continue to build closer ties between our children and their Turkish heritage. If you would like to enroll your child in our school or join our teaching staff, please don’t hesitate to contact us at email@example.com. We look forward to seeing you and your children at TACA Ataturk School!
