About our Classes
Turkish American Cultural Alliance Adult Turkish Classes are designed for diverse group of professionals who seek to learn Turkish for various reasons. Among our students we have graduate students, professors, artists, entrepreneurs, language lovers, or simply travelers. There are currently six different levels of courses which can be completed in six semesters. At the end of these six semesters, the students should be able to read, write, speak, and understand Turkish “in novice-high” level specified in AATT’s (American Association of Teachers of Turkic Languages) Provisional Proficiency Guidelines for Turkish.
The fall semester starts in late September and ends two weeks before Christmas. The winter semester starts after the new years and ends in late March. The spring semester starts in early April and ends in mid-June. Exact dates are announced several months in advance. Given the Chicagoan’s love of summer, we are not offering a summer session unless there is a considerable demand.

THE CONVERSATION GROUP PROGRAM
This program is designed to bring people together, who already know conversational Turkish and want to practice their speaking skills and keep building vocabulary. The meeting ambience is relatively casual. It takes place at an assigned venue downtown and participants are welcome to suggest a location to meet. The regular meeting place is second floor of the Starbuck on 1003 N Rush Street. This program helps our students and friends to practice their speaking and comprehension skills by discussing a theme (i.e. food, family, society, travelling, art, history, and politics). While covering vocabulary, the program also helps Turkish learners to fill the holes in their grammar skills. Students are welcome to ask for a theme to be covered or a venue to meet at.
This program is independent from TACA and administered by one of the TACA instructors. If you are interested in participating or have any questions, please email her at taca@tacaonline.org
